Oct 18, 2014 7:15 PM

Ryan Tannehill could be a top 10 pick in next month’s NFL draft, less than two years after lining up as a receiver for Texas A&M. Tannehill returned to his old high school position of QB halfway through the 2010 season and caught the attention of NFL scouts despite starting just 19 games behind center for the Aggies. On Thursday, he worked out for representatives of 22 NFL teams, including Pete Carroll, Joe Philbin and Brad Childress.

Scouts See Luck As Safer Pick Than Griffin

Jun 27, 2014 3:14 PM

The Colts are trying to add mystery to the first overall selection in next month's NFL Draft, but those around the league believe that Andrew Luck is the clear-cut choice. That would leave Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III for the Redskins, who traded up with the Rams for the second pick. Eight NFL coaches and executives were polled at league meetings Tuesday and all of them said they believed Luck would and should be the top pick. "Luck is just a safer pick," one AFC executive said. "They are both productive, high-quality kids from great families. You can't go wrong with either one. But if you're asking me about whom to take, I have to go with Luck, especially if you're Indianapolis after what they just had with [Peyton] Manning and the awful season they went through. "Get a guy who you know can play right away. At worst, Luck is going to be a good player who can come in and run the offense from Day 1. ... Griffin might end up being better, no question. He's an amazing athlete. But the learning curve with him is going to be a little longer because of the things he did in college."

Projected to go No. 1 overall to the Colts in the draft, Andrew Luck relished the Stanford spotlight for a change Thursday as one of a dozen former Cardinal players who tried to impress more than 125 league scouts and executives. Of more importance to the QB was making his teammates shine, even if it meant braving the elements on an unseasonably chilly and windy day. "I think I'm in a very unique position. Redskins Loom As Favorite For No. 2 Pick

Oct 11, 2014 3:55 AM

There are no shortage of suitors for the second overall pick, which is owned by the Rams, with quarterback Robert Griffin III on the minds of many teams. Word out of St. Louis indicates that the Redskins are the current leader for the selection. "The Rams don't deny there are a few "mystery" teams they're talking to, but the two serious contenders remain Cleveland and Washington," writes Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "And Washington continues to rate as the frontrunner, in part because it's an organization that hasn't been shy about making the big move under owner Dan Snyder." The Redskins are believed to be willing to trade two first-round picks, but the Rams also want a second-rounder this year.
